a2. Göz Kliniği, SB Ankara Ulucanlar Göz Hastanesi, ANKARA The aim of this study is to discuss the diagnosis and management of late flap infection after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) surgery.
A 44 years old male patient underwent LASIK for compound myopic astigmatizm. Eleven months later he was referred to our clinic with the diagnosis of keratitis. Patient complained of decreased vision, conjunctival hyperemia and pain. Cultures taken from conjonctiva and sub-flap region were negative. After therapy, the flap was preserved, and healed with fibrosis.
Flap infection after LASIK surgery is a serious sight-threatening condition. Patients must be followed up long time after LASIK and informed about the signs of infection. Keywords: LASIK, flap infectionTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2005, 14:89-92
