The girl who is 5 years old, applicated to our clinic with red eye and swelling eyelid. Her family said that two weeks ago she had had a bloody diarrhea. We determined an ulcer which was dyed with fluorescein, appeared as a half circle on the inferior part of the cornea and hypopyon. A little quantity of material was taken from the base of the ulcer for culture. We started appropriate initial therapy in the view of the patients clinical state. Gram (-) bacil grew on culture which was typed as shigella species. Guided to antibiotic sensitivity new therapy was started and hypopyon disappeared in 3 days.Keywords: Keratitis, gram (-) bacilli, shigellaTurkiye Klinikleri Oftalmoloji 1997, 6:196-198
