aGöz Hastalıkları AD, Başkent Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ANKARA A 41-year-old man was referred to our clinic for evaluation of right upper eyelid ptosis, headache, neck-and periorbital pain, paraesthesia in his left arm and tongue. He had been followed for hypertension for ten years. Ophthalmologic examination revealed ptosis and myosis in his right eye. Pharmacologic testing with 10% cocaine showed no change in the diameter of the right pupil whereas the left pupil dilated significantly, so the patient was diagnosed as Horner syndrome. Magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance angiography, which were carried out to rule out possible internal carotid artery dissection, were consistent with dissection of the right internal carotid artery. Keywords: Internal carotid artery dissection, postganglionic painful Horner syndromeTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2006, 15:72-76
