Metastatic Tumors Of The Eye And Adnexa
Dr. Hülya GÖKMEN SOYSALa
aGöz Hastalıkları Kliniği, Ankara Onkoloji Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, ANKARA Metastatic carcinomas of the eye and adnexa are not uncommon disorders among the malignant diseases of the eye. Breast and lung cancers are the most common malignancies to metastasize to the eye. In some cases, there is no known previous history of cancer, and the ophthalmic signs are the first manifestations of the systemic cancer. The choroid is the most common site of metastasis, followed by orbit, iris, ciliary body, optic nerve conjunctiva and eyelid. Since the signs and symptoms of the diseases are clinically variable, delay and error in diagnosis can occur. Although many patients die from multiple systemic metastasis, it’s possible to improve signs and symptoms by some treatment modalities. Keywords: Choroid, ciliary body, iris, neoplasm metastasis, orbit, uveaTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2006, 15:104-109
