aGöz Hastalıkları AD, bKadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum AD, Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, HATAY A 65 years old age woman, who was administered 70 mg alendronate per week for 6 months, admitted to our clinic with the complaints of blurred vision and redness in her left eye in sixth month during alendronate therapy. Her ophthalmic examination was showed unilateral anterior uveitis. The uveitis resolved in 1 week with steroid drops and discontinuation of alendronate therapy. Three weeks after dissapperance of the uveitic signs and symptoms, allendronate was re-administered, but 3 weeks later uveitis recurred. She was diagnosed as anterior uveitis associated with allendronate treatment and alendronate treatment was stoped. We conclude that disodium alendronate usage may cause ocular inflamation ( anterior, posterior or even panuveitis) which should be kept in mind for those patients and up on occurence of any such side effect the drug admission should be stopped. Keywords: Uveitis; inflammation; alendronateTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2007, 16:67-68
