A Case Of Necrotizing Fasciitis Due To Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

Necrotising fasciitis is very rarely seen in periocular area. Here we would like to present a case of periocular necrotizing fasciitis developed following an insect bite. Following clinical diagnosed, necrotic tissue was debrided and specimens were taken for microbiological and histopathological examination. Histopahological examination revealed necrotizing fasciitis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was cultivated. The patient improved with surgical debridement and proper antibiotic treatment. The main standpoint of the treatment in necrotizing fasciitis is surgical debridement and proper antibiotic treatment.Keywords: Insect bites and stings, fasciitis, necrotizingTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2008, 17:51-53
