An Ocular Syphilis Case With Uveitis And Multifocal Chorioretinitis

aGöz Hastalıkları Kliniği, Adana Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, ADANA Syphilis is a sexual transmitted disease which has mucocutaneous symptoms. A very rare case which imitates many other ocular pathologies. This presentedcase is a 45 years old man who has uveitis and multifocal chorioretinitis. Upon the negative results of the serological tests and the clinical symptoms, the syphilis diagnosis was excluded and the patient was treated as Behcet disease. Patient did not get benefit from the treatment and dermatological symptoms was added to the clinical signs. The serological tests were repeated and after careful examination of detailed history; syphilis diagnosis was agreed. Clinical condition improved with the appropriate treatment and reasonable improvement in visual acuity was also achived.Keywords: Syphilis, uveitis, serologyTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2008, 17:57-61
