aGöz Kliniği, İzmir Atatürk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, İZMİR Solar retinopathy is a clinical entity of macular damage, caused by viewing a solar eclipse or direct sun-gazing. Fortunately the visual loss is usually reversible. We present 3 cases with solar retinopathy who were watched the solar eclipse directly in 3 of October 2005 and illustrate the clinical, photographic and optical coherence tomographic (OCT) findings of them. The optical coherence tomography findings in early period resolved spontaneously with the clinical findings in 6 months. The severity of damage may be related to the duration of the light exposure. The visual prognosis of solar retinopathy is usually favorable but prevention remains the mainstay of treatment. Keywords: Tomography, optical coherence, macular degeneration, solar energyTurkiye Klinikleri J Ophthalmol 2008, 17:62-65
